The Philip Mack Smith Photographic Albums
Included in the Lillian Savery photograph and document collection were eight scrapbooks that I attribute to Philip Mack Smith. They contained 139 photographs of Middlefield locales and groups of people. Several of the pictures were included in his Smith History of Middlefield. Very few of the photos were identified. I have added notes to those that were familiar. He apparently distributed these as Christmas presents. His connection to Lillian is unknown. I have included a Ferris family heirloom that contains three photographs by Smith. It is a scrap book of a trip to the Blandford Fair in September 1912 by three Middlefield Teachers, Smith, my Grandfather and another summer resident. I’ve researched each of the six people. The Album links to the left take you to a panel of thumbnails. Click on an image to access the full-size photograph. As facial identification and matching software becomes available to the hobbiest, we might be able to identify some of the people in these albums from a hundred years ago.
